Computer Will Not Start
If your system continually reboots/restarts, suddenly stops working, becomes unbootable and/or you get the dreaded Blue or Black "Screen Of Death" similar to that in this image. Phil Guy Computer & Repairs can attempt to restore your operating system and - if desired or deemed necessary - recover the data. Well used to dealing with Laptop, PC and Mac repairs in Plymstock and the surrounding Plymouth Area, Phil Guy Computer & Repairs have an in depth knowledge of dealing with such problems.
An unbootable system can be caused by a number of factors ranging from faulty hardware (usually memory / RAM or a video card) to corrupt or poorly configured software, or the result of a malware or virus infection.
What Can We Do?
We will examine your computer and run diagnostic checks. We will then verify that any cabling is firmly connected and that all the components in your computer(s) are secure in their seats and grounding correctly.
Upon successfully restoring your computer, we will then investigate as to why it stopped working in the first instance. We will perform basic system maintenance, defragment your hard drive(s), check for malware (including viruses) and anything which may have caused the problem. If we feel that the system files on the hard drive have been permanently corrupted, we can optionally re-install the operating system.
In addition to repairing the system, we usually apply any security patches or driver updates if applicable. Should it be necessary for the operating system to be re-installed, an additional charge may be incurred.
Please note that under no circumstances will Phil Guy Computer & Repairs be liable for data loss when we perform equipment maintenance. We strongly recommend that you back up your data on a separate medium ( for example by DVD, external hard-drive, USB stick or on-line) on a regular basis. All business is subject to our Terms and Conditions of Business, a printable version of which is available here.
